The Diocese of Washington has become a community partner for Capitol Pride 2009 (Parade: 6:30 p.m. June 13; Street Festival June 14). Volunteers are needed for both the parade and festival committees. The next planning meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. May 14 at St. Thomas, Dupont Circle - all are invited. DC LACROSSE CLASSIC TO BENEFIT BISHOP WALKER SCHOOL
The DC Lacrosse Association will present its first DC Lacrosse Classic on May 16 at St. Albans School to benefit The Washington Inner City Lacrosse Foundation and the Bishop John T. Walker School. The event includes games featuring all seven boys' varsity lacrosse teams in the District -St. Albans, Gonzaga, Sidwell Friends, St. John's, Georgetown Day, Maret and Archbishop Carroll-along with guest team Eleanor Roosevelt High School from Greenbelt, Md., and a free lacrosse clinic for boys ages 6 to 14. Commemorative T-shirts and game programs will be sold. In the event of inclement weather, check www.dclacrosseclassic.com on the morning of May 16 for any announcements regarding change of venue.

ANNUAL SPRING DINNER & BAZAAR AT ST. GEORGE'S, VALLEY LEE
St. George's, Valley Lee will hold its Annual Spring Dinner & Bazaar from 1 to 7 p.m. May 30. Menu includes Maryland crab cakes, baked ham, chicken salad, St. George's potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, pickled beets, rolls and beverages. Cost is $22 for adults and carry-outs, $7 for children 6-12, no charge for children 5 and under. There also will be a dessert table, raffle, bazaar and a drawing for a John Deere tractor. SUMMER OPENINGS AT CAMP ARROWHEAD
Camp Arrowhead, a camp for kids in grades 3-11 run by the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware in Lewes, has openings for campers in several of its one- and two- week sessions this summer. The camp offers an outdoor experience in a beautiful setting - learning to sail is one of the opportunities - and also gives kids a rich spiritual experience. RELEASE A BUTTERFLY ON MEMORIAL DAY
The Wendt Center invites individuals and families who have lost a loved one to release a monarch butterfly their name from 2 to 4 p.m. May 30 in Garfield Park, located at 3rd and G Streets, SE. The center, founded by the late Rev. Bill Wendt, former rector of St. Stephen and the Incarnation, is a D.C. nonprofit that helps families and especially children deal with loss, grief and trauma. To participate in the Memorial Day event, go to WendtCenter.org and click on "Let a Butterfly Soar." If you cannot attend, one of the center's staff or volunteer will release your butterfly.
SUMMER MUSIC CAMP
Redeemer, Bethesda will hold a Summer Music Camp from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 13-17. The camp, designed for ages 7-15 (campers must have completed first grade), will be staffed by three professional musical educators. Tuition for the week is $325; scholarships are available. Camp highlights include: utilization of portions of the Orff and Dalcroze methodologies; study of rhythm through motion; study of basic vocal production and solfege; introduction to reading musical notation; session on the relationship between math and music with NSO cellist Yvonne Caruthers; arts and crafts; organized outdoor recreation time, including a nature walk and a trip to the historic carousel at nearby Glen Echo Park. Lunch and a snack will be provided. Teacher/student ratio approximately 1 to 6. WALKING TOUR OF HISTORIC ST. MARY'S, FOGGY BOTTOM
Tour the site of the first Episcopal Church for African Americans in Washington, D.C., on land arranged for by President Lincoln's Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton. Architectural highlights of the current building, designed by James Renwick, include magnificent stained glass windows from Lorin de Chartres, France and the Tiffany Co.
