Led by the Rev. George Kroupa and

Christian educators—lay and ordained, professional and volunteer, from all
denominations—will gather for three days to explore new ideas and discover new
resources for Christian education programs. The three-day event is designed
to give educators ample time to learn from the experts—the participants
themselves—during free time, meals and receptions. Participants will be able to
select workshops from a range of topics, including developing and selecting
curriculum, working with clergy and volunteers, teaching Bible study, planning
for special events, designing successful youth programs, among others.
George Kroupa has been a member of the Virginia Theological Seminary faculty
for 11 years and is currently Associate Professor of Christian Education and
Assistant Director of the Center for the Ministry of Teaching. He is
ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served for 16 years as pastor in
Presbyterian congregations and as a full-time director Christian education at an
Episcopal parish. Mr. Kroupa has served the national church in both
denominations as a curriculum writer, conference designer, and workshop leader.
Dorothy Linthicum, program coordinator for the Center for the Ministry of
Teaching, is an adjunct instructor in Christian education at the seminary. She
has led workshops and training sessions throughout the country and the Virgin
Islands. As visiting missionary, she is teaching Christian education during
the 2006 winter term at the College of the Transfiguration, a seminary in
Grahamstown, South Africa. She is also the managing editor of Episcopal
Teacher, Episcopal Children’s Curriculum, and Episcopal Curriculum for Youth.
